If you’re here then you are a movie buff like me. No! I do not watch every movie that hits the theatres, but I do like watching those which seem to have calibre. For instance, I think Chennai Express is one of the worst movies ever made and my favourite movie is the Godfather. The entire genre of movies is very opinionated and divided on the question of movie choices.
However, one thing is for sure, awesome movies and cinematic experiences are created each year and it is important for die-hard fans like us to keep an eye on what the likes of Tarantino, Michael Bay, Joss Whedon, Marvel, DC and the entire realm of Hollywood have to offer in the time to come.
5 Anticipated Hollywood Movies of 2016
Here are 5 highly anticipated Hollywood movies to look forward to in 2016.
#1 Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice
Everybody is waiting for this movie. From the trailer, a comic nerd like me can easily make out that Batman vs. Superman is going to set new benchmarks for the DC cinematic universe and also pose tough competition to the hugely successful Marvel Franchise.
The plot takes after the destruction of Metropolis in Man of Steel and one can see that Bruce Wayne, Gotham’s caped crusader (played by Ben Affleck) was there to witness it. With the world struggling to accept the Man of Steel, the Bat Vigilante takes it on Superman (Henry Cavil) to keep a tab on his activities. The movie will also feature Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and officially lay down the foundations for the Justice League in the DC cinematic universe.
#2 Captain America: Civil War
Another highly anticipated Hollywood movie for 2016, Captain America Civil War is poised to set the backdrop of Marvel top comic series: The Infinity Wars. If you closely watch all the Marvel movies and TV series and do not miss a single after-credit scene, then you know what I am talking about.
Captain America (Chris Evans) will take up his righteous shield against none other than Tony Stark’s Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) over how things should run. Marvel already established an air of discord between the two in Age of Ultron and showed glimpses of it growing in Ant-Man. The feature will sure be a tough competitor to Snyder’s Batman vs. Superman.
#3 Suicide Squad
Okay, don’t be mad at me. I am a superhero nerd and Suicide Squad has been making rave reviews on the animated front. I am going to bomb you with some comic book agenda again.
So just like SHIELD in the Marvel Universe, we have ARGUS in the DC universe led by Amanda Waller. She brings together DC’s filthiest in a bit to use them as a patsy task for to hunt down bad shit in return for clemency. Given the fact that they are criminals, they are expendable and that is what she is counting on.
I am sure, the movie will have a huge impact on the DC universe. It also features Ben Affleck reprising the role of Batman and Jared Leto as the new joker who BTW looks completely psychotic in the trailer. It will feature popular DC comics villains like Harley Quinn, Killer Crock, Deadshot and Metallo.
#4 The Jungle Book
Okay, enough with the superheroes now. One the most anticipated movies to look forward to in 2016 is Disney’s Jungle Book which is currently being developed. All of us know the story, but it would be great to see Disney bring the magical characters created by Rudyard Kipling to life on the big screen.
It will have a very star-studded cast including Scarlett Johansson and Idris Elba.
#5 Kung Fu Panda 3
I know you want to see this film. Our cute, cuddly and hungry dragon warrior is back with some supernatural problems going around. Also, the trailer shows that his original father is in town. That will mean a lot of awkward moments and that means we could have a lot of fun.
Jack Black will reprise the voice of Po as will all the others members of the cast. The previous two instalments of Kung Fu panda were an animated treat to watch and the expectations from this one will be high worldwide.
I did miss many movies didn’t I? Well, why don’t you share them with us in the comments section?
